High-Quality Printing Techniques for Personalised Coasters

Personalised coasters are an excellent tool for increasing brand recognition. Their fairly large surface is a great canvas for your logo, business information, slogan or anything else you might want to communicate to prospects and customers.

Here’s a quick rundown of the printing techniques used on coasters to help you decide which one is best for your design and promotional needs.

Personalised coaster

Screen printing

Screen printing is suitable for simple graphics, and we print them on your coasters in one colour. A negative of the design is printed onto a screen and placed against the coaster. Ink is rolled across the screen with a rubber squeegee, and only the areas where the design is printed allow ink to pass through.

Because we have to do everything by hand, the overall setup time for screen printing is quite long, so screen printing is more affordable for larger quantities.

Sublimation is a printing technique where we use a special printer to print a full-colour mirror image onto special transfer paper and then apply it to a coaster using a heat press.

Sublimation printing looks great on light-colored coasters and is the best choice for graphics with a lot of detail and colour, as well as photos. Sublimation printing is a cost-effective option for smaller projects with lots of colours. It requires substantial resources, so larger orders are costly.

Full-colour ultraviolet printing

Ultraviolet (UV) printing is a technique that uses printers with special inks that dry quickly when exposed to ultraviolet light. With UV printing, we can print many colours and intricate details. UV inks are fade-resistant and waterproof, so the print will last a long time.

If you want a long-lasting print in a variety of colours, UV printing is the way to go. However, this process is more expensive than screen printing and sublimation because of the cost of the UV-cured inks and should be reserved for smaller projects.
