Saint George's day

Tomorrow is Saint George's day - the 23rd of April, day dedicated to the Patron Saint of England. You all know the Christian history and the ancient customs that are revived on this special day. But you might be surprised to know that it is celebrated in other parts of the world as well: In Barcelona and other towns of Catalonia it is one of the most important days.

Here streets are decorated for days, little booths are built and people go out in the streets of spring to spend a great day. Traditionally men offer red roses to women and women return the favor giving a book as a gift. This might be the day with the most book sells in the whole year. On Passeig de Gràcia, little side streets and on the impressive Ramblas all the way from Plaza Cataluña to the ocean front, you fill find parades and people celebrating.
