Pad printing is a relatively modern printing technique. The core of the process is about transferring ink from a pad onto the product to be personalized. In a way, it is similar to stamps used by children to make crafts. The process has 3 components: 1. The ink is put on the plate and the excess ink is swept away. Thus, the ink only remains inside the relief or the engraving hole. 2. The pad descends on the plate, and, exerting pressure collects the ink that was deposited in the cracks of the plate. 3. The pad presses on the product and transfers the ink that it had collected from the plate.
Like any other printing technique Camaloon uses, pad printing is of high quality and long lasting. Moreover, it is a low cost printing technique that can be used for any kind of surface, of all shapes and kinds. Not only can it be used on almost any surface, but on fine subjects, the resolution of the print is even higher than with screen printing.
Similar to screen printing, pad printing requires colors to be printed separately. Therefore, it is not possible to print full color images onto the products with pad printing. Moreover, this also causes the process to take longer if more colors are required.
Camaloon offers a vast selection of products that use pad printing. Here are some examples:
